Is there a base for the candle to sit on?
Do you just put a candle on the surface of your choice and put the diffuser over it? Couldn't heat damage the finish of the surface?

The diffuser had a built in bottom for you to place the tea light on.

You fill the little cup up top with water and add a couple of drops of you favorite essential oil. After that in the lower compartment you place a lit tea light candle which will heat the scented water releasing its scent.
