The Happy Lite says it is not recommended for those with cataracts. Will it harm my pets' eyes? I know they can get cataracts also.

Does it provide the right intensity of light when you're a comfortable distance away?
Q:
Some light boxes offer the preferred 10,000 lux only when you're within a few inches of the box, while others can reach a distance of nearly two feet. What's the distance for this light box?

You can use it two feet away. However the further you are from the unit the longer it has to be used to achieve the same effects.
Times recommended: at 27" from unit, 2 hours. At 18" from unit, 1 hour.
At 9" to 12" from unit, 1/2 hour.
