The Kitchen Compost Crock has a fully glazed interior that won't stain or absorb odor and holds up to one gallon of kitchen scraps. An activated carbon filter in the lid prevents odors. With a removable stainless steel handle. Dishwasher safe. Includes one filter. Filters last 3 months. White ceramic crock measures 10½"H x 7" diameter; Stainless steel crock measures 11"H x 8½" diameter. China.

They do require a filter however it is a different size than the one for the ceramic crock. The item number for the Stainless Steel filter is 09-1082.
