I have had mine for over a year on our back deck. It is exposed to extreme sun (9,500 ft above sea level, southern exposure) and the colors have not faded. I was told that there would be some UV damage eventually, but I have not seen any.

I have had one for about a year and it still looks great. It is outside under a pergola, so is somewhat shielded from the sun. I have been quite happy with it.

Question
Can it protect our hardwood floors?
Our house has a foyer with a wooden floor, and in all kinds of weather, we need to wheel our son's stroller indoors. (We don't live in a neighborhood where you could just leave it on the porch!) I LOVE the looks of this rug, and am considering purchasing the 4X6 rug to put in the area where we store the stroller. Do you think it will sufficiently protect the floor, however? Or is there something I could put under it to make it protect the floor? It's so much more attractive than other, similar items on the market . . .

I would advice putting a skid pad under this to protect your floors. Because it is made out of plastic I would think it would scratch your floors without it.

Question
Can I use it to protect an inside carpet?
I recently put in a kitchenette downstairs and have a bur bur rug in this room which is in front of the counter top, sink and cabinets. If something is spilled will YOUR Rug protect the bur bur carpet underneath??? Can I tack Your Rug down with the Velcro pads which comes with it??? or do you have a better suggestion???

This doesn't include a Velcro pad. It probably wouldn't serve as a great barrier of protection because its woven pieces of plastic and liquid would likely go straight through it to your carpet. It would be effective against food spills as long as it wasn't something juicy or saucy.

Is this considered an oversize item for shipping purposes? I wasn't able to use the free shipping coupon code even though my purchase $ qualified?

It doesn't have oversize shipping fees. You won't see your shipping waved until the final step before you submit the order. It will show up as a (- 9.99) or whatever price your shipping was underneath the amount listed for shipping.

Question
When this carpet needs to be disposed of, will local recyclers accept it the same as a soda bottle or is it headed to the landfill?

This should be able to go to your recyclers you may just need to cut the stitching out. But since it is made of old pop bottles there should be no reason why they can't recycle this. You may also have to take it to the facility directly so that way you can let them know what it is made of.

I would not put this rug in a spot that is going to get a lot of barefoot traffic. It does have a plastic like texture to it. The best description is if they took a bunch of long strings made out of those red coffee stir straws and wove them together. These rugs are best used on porches or mud rooms, places that you will have shoes on. I have flip flops on so I went and walked bare foot on the sample and it isn't painful to just walk over it, but if you were to stand on it for an extended period of time it would make the bottom of your feet a little sore.

The pads are used to help anchor the rug... the rugs can be light weight and slide around a bit. The pads help to keep the rug from shifting.
